Hey I’ve been desperate to view Godards Alphaville on the big screen for some time now so that would be my suggestion for the first of the next double feature. What to pair it with, well Alphaville is already a parody so I thought it would pair well with a comedy. The one that I had in mind was Play It Again Sam. The so called Woody Allan film not directed by Woody Allan. Thematically they cover same territory. Both are about how love conquers all. In Alphavill, love conquers the evil soul crushing computer and in Play It Again Sam, love conquers depression and despair. Both films have a guy in a trench coat and fedora.
You could pair Play It Again Sam with Casablanca, but wouldn’t that be too obvious? Stupid, actually.
